Intro

My friend needed an easy way to upload and embed audio clips to her blog, so I took a little bit of time to write a Simple PHP File Uploader. To do the actual embedding, you can use Google’s existing video/audio player to embed MP3s hosted online.

The Code

Here, we’re assuming that you have the variable $file which contains the external URL of the MP3 file:

<?php
$embed = '
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000"
    codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=7,0,0,0"
    align="middle"
    height="27"
    width="400"
    >
        <param name="quality"
        value="best">
        <param name="allowScriptAccess"
        value="never">
        <param name="wmode"
        value="window">
        <param name="movie"
        value="http://www.google.com/reader/ui/3523697345-audio-player.swf?audioUrl=' . $file . '">
        <embed classname="audio-player-embed"
        type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
        src="http://www.google.com/reader/ui/3523697345-audio-player.swf?audioUrl=' . $file . '"
        allowscriptaccess="never"
        quality="best"
        bgcolor="#ffffff"
        wmode="window"
        flashvars="playerMode=embedded"
        pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"
        height="27"
        width="400"
        >
        </embed>
    </object>';
?>
